I’m a sucker for a good dirty chai. No matter the season I’ll take a hot dirty chai with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
It’s become such an obsession that I’ve started making them at home daily.
I start by using the OG (original gangster) espresso maker to get some espresso brewing.
While that’s going I steam some chai and milk of choice. The rule of thumb with this chai is you mix half chai and half milk- I like my chai a little stronger so I do a 2/3 chai and 1/3 milk combo.
My preferred Chai is the Oregon Chai box available at Trader Joes (duh). My preferred milk is a straight up vanilla almond milk or sometimes I like to switch it up and use an almond blend milk from Trader Joes.
I usually just steam the chai + milk mixture in a small sauce pan over the stove. (BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERCOOK YOUR CHAI AND MILK, BURNT MILK TASTES AWEFUL). Once the chai is steamed I just pour it in a mug, top with espresso (I just eyeball the amount) and add a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
It may take a few attempts to get your desired combo down but once you figure it out it’s a dream to be able to make it at home and not have to travel for your favorite *extra* drink.
